Designer Kitchens give QH an exclusive look at this sleek and modern kitchen. We can see why it was a 2014 HIA winner!
What was your client’s brief?
They wanted a kitchen that was modern
and sleek, while being extremely user friendly – whether they were hosting one or ten people.
What was the budget for this project?
Over $50,000.
What was the inspiration for this project?
The house was a work in progress and the kitchen was the final link to bring all the other areas into one. Our client had definite visions of what the space should look like. We worked with those and the already-innovative house to create a complementary space – one which ultimately won HIA’s Brisbane Renovated Kitchen 2014.
What are the defining elements of this project that make it such a success?
The amount of space that has been created for the kitchen, as well as complimenting the existing outdoor areas.
Was any other structural work required with the room?
We removed walls and re-made them in new locations to add more space. We also created a window seat to further bring the outdoors in.The timber floors have all been updated, now using recycled timber.
What is your favourite thing about this kitchen?
The fish tank (which was also the biggest splurge). It’s one of the major features in the space and integrates seamlessly into the splashback.
